Route M in Jefferson County is an expressway for most of its length, and most of the freeway has a velocity limit of 60 mph. 30 mph (48 km/h) in a residential district, 35-45 mph (56-72 km/h) on boulevards, fifty five mph (89 km/h) on site visitors-gentle highways, 65-70 mph (105-113 km/h) on rural divided 4-lane highways, and 55-70 mph (89-113 km/h) on rural 2-lane undivided highways. The speed limit drops to 60 mph by means of Springfield itself, just like different urban Interstate highways in Missouri.
